OPAL has become a gold standard in multiplex immunohistochemistry. This sequential multi-biomarker labeling of up to 8 antigens using antibodies of the same species in a single tissue section combined with multispectral imaging (MSI) allows precise phenotypic and spatial analysis of tissue microenvironments on FFPE tissue sections. This presentation will look at the technical aspects of the technique for both manual and automatic staining applications from the view of the lab bench and impart some guidance for its inclusion in the immunohistochemical workflow.
